New feedback on PCG (QA) practices
PCG's Quality Accountant scheme,
PCG (QA), provides training on contractor-specific
tax and accounting issues for accounting practices,
and supplies members with a range of accountants who
are up-to-date with freelancer-specific issues.
Members are encouraged to comment on their experience
of any PCG (QA) practice by emailing
qafeedback@pcg.org.uk. We have recently received
three lots of positive feedback for

PCG HOPES FOR ARCTIC JUDGMENT
WITHIN TWO WEEKS
PCG
is hopeful that the judgement in the landmark test
case at the House of Lords between HMRC and the PCG-backed
owners of Arctic Systems will be delivered before the
The House of Lords' summer recess in two weeks' time.
If it takes longer for judgment to be delievered -
which would be unusual - it will not be handed down
until September.
PCG
will be issuing a special newsletter following the
judgement with analysis of the decision and the
implications for freelancers.
FREELANCING
MATTERS
Members should by now have received their copy of
issue 12 of Freelancing Matters magazine (the
electronic version will be online shortly), which
includes special features on dealing with contract
renewals, an overview of the Managed Service Company
debate and advice on mortgage options for freelancers.
Having updated the membership system and switched
suppliers for the production of Freelancing Matters
magazine, we are aware that some requests for bulk
orders may be out of date. If you have previously

REGIONAL MEETINGS & EVENTS
Regional meetings, traditionally known on the forums
as "RLMs", encourage members to socialise, network and
discuss PCG issues. These meetings are open to all
members, and in many cases non-members are welcome to
come along too. If you would like to attend or propose
regional meetings, please post to the relevant thread
on the
RLM forum, or email the local co-ordinator.
The
events diary holds information about RLMs and
other PCG meetings, and includes a facility to
register online, where appropriate.
